The heavens had opened sending a violent rainstorm over the residents of Kaspan. It was just her luck that the day she was to start her adventure the weather would turn out as it did. That was karma for you.
Luckily for Maddy, she had watched this morning's weather report which had predicted the rainstorm and she had dressed accordingly. A pink waterproof mac covered her body and a white polka-dot umbrella could be seen in her right hand, keeping her blow-dried hair prestine and any make-up from running.
As she quickened her pace along the marked path, she growled in annoyance as she noticed the brown mud splodges on her designer boots. "Great, just great!" she huffed. The quicker she arrived at the lab, the better. The rain sucked, especially when you had an image to uphold!
A look of relief washed across the glamour girl's face as a large building came into sight. "Finally!" she smiled, stepping through the electric doors with eagerness. "Professor?! I'm here for my Pokemon.."she called out, shaking her umbrella dry in the process.

"Professor?! I'm here for my Pokemon.." Isn't everyone now? Lief laughed at himself and lifted out of his chair, stretching luxuriously before strolling out of the backroom and into the main section of his lab. "Hi! I'm Professor Lief; how can I help you?" He paused before gesturing to the pile of cookies and water bottles he now had out for each new trainer. "Can I tempt you with some sweets and water?" The Professor wasn't surprised that with the new influx of trainers each day - hell, even with each passing week! - that the island was still basically crime free.
There had to be something going down, soon. He had a feeling, he just didn't know when this was actually going to happen.

Maddy's adventure was finally beginning, and she was one step closer to bringing a touch of glamor to all.. one Pokemon at a time. Yes, Madison was a keen fashionista and once she received her first Pokemon, she could alas spread the world of fashion and beauty to the masses.
The pink-haired glamor puss eyed the delectables on the table, her mouth salivating at the cookies. "No thank you" she smiled politely. She had a figure to uphold, sweet snacks would just not do, despite her insatiable cravings. Her eagerness may have came across a tad rude, but she was itching to start her adventure and decided to get right to the point. "I'm here for my first Pokemon, please."

Lief smiled at her, before he took a cookie for himself, munching on it. He couldn't let them go to waste! "At least take a few water bottles, little missy. With the weather acting up, you'll never know when you'll need that quick refreshing burst of bottled water!" Lief chuckled around his cookie, finishing it off in a few bites. The man didn't like wasting stuff. "Alright, if you give me just a minute, I'll be right back with your choices."
Without an answer from the girl, he took off back into the back room where he had the Pokemon he gave to the trainers. Wiping the crumbs from his mouth, Lief began to pick the Pokemon the girl would get.

The Professor was right. Kaspan had a funny way of changing weather with a blink of an eye. Suppose a heatwave struck on her journey, it wouldn't have been the first time afterall. Maddy didn't generally take charity from others, but he seemed adamant she at least take something. "Well if you're sure, thank you very much" she smiled, placing the water bottles in her bag.
She watched with jealousy as the man devoured the cookie and stopped herself from licking her lips like a hungry puppy. As he shuffled into the back room, a great sense of excitement suddenly overcame the pampered princess. This was it..

Lief shortly returned, carrying the proper materials the new trainer would need to carry on her journey. He had brushed the crumbs from his face and had cleaned himself up. "Here we go! Hope you enjoy them," Placing the balls on the table along with it's pictures, Lief sat back and watched the new trainer pick her starter.

A large grin stretched across Maddy's features as the Professor placed a variety of Pokeballs infront of her. Without hesitation she stepped towards the table and began to examine the pictures one by one. The blue-water type was her immediate attraction but after discovering he had 'Mud' in his name, it was a certain no for obvious beauty reasons. The rest of the Pokemon fizzled into the background by comparison when she noticed the Hoppip. It was small, cute and more importantly it was pink and totally matched her hair and outfit. "I'll take this one!" she smiled, certain of her decision. Maddy and Hoppip. It sounded perfect. [/size] |

Lief nodded, smiled and handed her the Pokeball that held the Hoppip. "Here you go! Everything you need to get started is in that pack right there," Lief made a gesture to the starter pack he had put on the table for her, sweeping the rest of the Pokeballs away from her and into his arms. Slightly curious as to how she was going to make it with this Pokemon, Lief gave her a reassuring smile and turned away, calling over his shoulder, "Good luck and have fun!"
