Macbeth traveled a good few meters ahead of Rain, often turning back to chirp various updates on... well, whatever he wanted to update Rain on. He'd heard of experienced trainers learning to 'understand' their pokemon despite, well, the complete lack of English, but Rain certainly didn't count as experienced yet, and despite his best efforts, Macbeth's gibberish was just that: gibberish.
On the upside, the torchic didn't seem to mind Rain's more questionable activities. Time they shouldn't spent training, Rain decided to spend arms deep in chemical chlorides and fumes of enamel. It'd proven worthwhile though: he'd pawned off a small stash of "gold" nuggets for a tidy little profit, and the coin felt like as good a safety net as time spent training. After that, they'd left town in a bit of a hurry just to be safe.
<Torrrr! Torrrrrchic,> Macbeth called from ahead, gesturing excitedly with his wings.
Instinct made Rain reach for a switchblade before he froze, stopped to breathe, and calmed himself down. Probably just a pretty flower or something, he figured. "What's up?"

A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared! | [atrb=border,0,true]
He had been watching these two very curiously since the moment they entered the forest. A man, a man with pink hair at that, who was walking along with a rather delicious looking fire bird who looked like a discolored and deformed Pidgey. And he, quite frankly, was starving after chasing after food without success nearly all day. Thankfully, this looked like easy prey, he'd seen humans abandon Pokemon quite a few times in the face of a wild attack, and they didn't seem any different.
As the duo came into sight, in the hiding spot of particularly tall grass, the Poochyena wriggled his rear as he rested on his haunches. In a burst of grey fur, he exploded from his hiding spot, aiming a powerful TACKLE at his prey.

Cursing, Rain knelt to check on his pokemon, but Macbeth had already rolled up to his feet, spitting and clucking indignity and outrage. "Are you okay--"[/color] <Torcccch!> Well, that sounded like a battle cry. Sprinting for the dog pokemon, Macbeth raised his wings to strike an angry scratch. Rain sighed and resisted the urge to facepalm. Coolly, calmly, he called out to Macbeth. One of them here had to keep their head, after all. "Calm down, Mac. Focus energy next time, alright? A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared! [atrb=border,0,true] Barking loudly towards these two, he watched proudly as the tiny bird Pokemon tumbled back in the wake of his , by his own standards, fierce blow. Yet it still got back up, and this trainer didn't seem to have any obvious intentions of leaving! Not.. Too concerning, he had caught Pidgey after all, so what would another bird have against him? Over confident and determined, the Poochyena lunged forward once more only to be met with a scratch attack. Yowling sharply in pain, the lupine creature fell back with a whimper, a dusty paw coming up to rub at the trio of claw marks that stained the grey fur upon his cheek. So.. This one had some more fight in it than the rest. No problem. Leaping back to his paws, he dashed in for another TACKLE towards Macbeth. SCRATCH CONNECTED!

Rain preferred to err on the side of caution because so far Macbeth had only trained against virtual pokemon in the training center. Conversely, Macbeth felt like king of the world because he'd trained against an unrelenting horde of virtual pokemon in the training center.
They were agreed on one thing though: fighting smarter was fighting better.
The tackle barreled into Macbeth, who stood his ground. Upon impact, Macbeth gleamed with the light of a focus energy.[/td][/tr] [/table][/center] |

A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared! [atrb=border,0,true] As his tackle collided but the bird stood his ground, the canine hopped backwards with a shocked bark. This was certainly not something he encountered much with the common prey in the forest. Nor did most of his prey have a tendency to glow so radiantly or randomly. Instead of dashing away though, the grey furred creature remained intent on catching this fire bird. Backing up, Poochyena placed himself in an offensive stance before raising his head and snout to the sky in a loud HOWL. POOCHYENA USED HOWL!

He was vaguely aware that it was a power-up by the dog pokemon, but Rain didn't recall specifically what sort. He knew they should get this battle over with quickly though, lest the power-ups start stacking up against them.
"Another scratch, Mac,"[/color] he said, and Macbeth was of the same mind. In quick response to orders, the torchic raised his taloned wings and brought them scratching down at the poochyena. (5/8 totodile egg; 2/8 horsea egg; 2/10 eevee egg)[/size][/td][/tr] [/table][/center] |

A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared! [atrb=border,0,true] Hunching down as the human woofed out more gibber at the orange avian, he could only assume it was more orders ; same that was barked out when his opponent radiated ominously upon their battle field. This time though, he was thoroughly prepared and being a rather intelligent hound, waited for it. As the scratch fell upon him, it was another rough hit to him but his endurance made for at least some HP to work off of ; not much, but enough for the stance he had planned. Having coiled his muscles likes a tightly wound spring, before the Torchic could withdraw he sprung aggressively in a vicious TACKLE aimed at the 'deformed Pidgey''s stomach. SCRATCH CONNECTED!

Half concerned and half simply curious, Rain asked, "Mac? You okay?"[/color] He looked okay enough--grumpy and worse for wear, but still up for a fight. <Torccchic tor,>[/color] Macbeth replied with what he probably intended to be a manly tis-but-a-flesh-wound shrug. Instead, it was a skinny chickenish shiver. Rain wasn't too sure what to make of it. Talons out again, the Torchic hopped lightly on his feet and charged forward with a third scratch. A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared! [atrb=border,0,true] Feeling rather light headed, the pooch let out a not so admirable whimper as the scratch struck him and under his enemy's talons, he fell with a struggle yet thudded to the ground just as hard. The world was dark after fainting, and this attack left one of his ears permanently scathed, though that was certainly the least of his worries when he was next able to re-awaken. Rather, he fell into an unconscious state fairly worried what this human had intended for his future. SCRATCH CONNECTED!

But there was something about leaving an unconscious dog in the middle of the road that nagged on Rain's conscience.
He wasn't actually aware he even had a conscience.
<Chiiic tor torch?>[/color] the torchic said, half a question and half a suggestion. "...Yeah. Yeah, I guess so,"[/color] Rain replied, not sure if Macbeth had actually suggested he throw a pokeball, because for all he knew, Mac had suggested they go out for ice cream and hot dogs. Without much fanfare, he threw a pokeball at the poochyena. (10/10 eevee egg)[/size][/td][/tr] [/table][/center] |
