Emma jogged down the path from the professor's lab with the biggest grin on her face. She was ecstatic that she had gotten the Pokemon she wanted. Speaking of that Pokemon... Emma slowed to a stop, caught her breath, and reached into her backpack to grab the small ball containing her Houndour. Her brother would have been proud of her for getting this far. Letting the black dog out, she kneeled down in front of it and rubbed her between her ears, Emma smiled. "H-hi. I'm Emma. I'm you're t-trainer." The dog barked, and Emma giggled. "I dunno w-what I'm gunna call y-you, so... we'll w-work on that l-later, okay?" The Hourdour nodded and jumped up, pressing her paws against Emma's shoulders so she could lick her face. It made Emma laugh, which totally distracted her from her surroundings.

What did the lot of her clan know? Sure, they might be considerably older and wiser but so was she ; she was hatched a good two weeks ago for their information and was already at level three for scaring off some berry grubbing Caterpie that got far too close to her mother's den. Far more along than the rest of her litter mates. So what did her mother know about making her stay near the den when there was a world of adventure outside! It was these thoughts that spurred her sudden decision to head out while everyone was scampering off to find berries.
Perhaps, she would even come home with more berries than even the biggest Raticate in their neck of the woods. But, as youngsters are, her attention span swiftly shifted from berries to the two individuals none too far from the bush she nosed about in. A human, from the looks of it, and a very.. Strange looking sort of Pokemon.
Strange or not, these two surely couldn't be much different than the berry thieving Caterpie. With such an incorrect conclusion in her inexperienced mind, she let out a squeaky war cry and dashed forward head first with a TACKLE.

Emma had been thoroughly distracted; in such a case, she hadn't seen the Rattata at her side, nor did her Hourdour - whom she was going to name by the way. It wasn't until the purple rat had knocked her Hourdour off did Emma realize what she was doing. She was going to go through her first battle! Oh god what was she supposed to do!? Her Houndour wasn't happy that she was attacked without warning, and with a snarl leapt to her feet and looked at the purple rat, before looking back at her trainer. mma panicked, then pointed at the rat. "E-ember!" She cried, biting the corner of her lip.

A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared! [atrb=border,0,true] She took it down! The small rat twitched her whiskers with satisfaction as the beast was knocked back in no different fashion than the tiny Caterpie back in the deeper woods. Though unlike the bugs, this creature got back up, a feat that startled the young Rattata slightly and made her step back cautiously with eyes wide with shock. No sooner did she stand paralyzed did she see the black furred dog fire embers at her, knocking the tiny critter off her feet and onto her back with a pained squeal. But she was not done just yet! Instead of laying or running, she stood back up and darted forward stubbornly in a TACKLE attack. EMBER connected!

"Whoo!"
Emma cheered when the attack hit. Her Pokemon turned slightly and wagged her stub of a tail, which left her defenseless. The rats attack hit, and with a howl the Dark dog Pokemon turned and snarled at the ratatta, pawing at the ground in absolute fury. Emma bit her lip and looked at the rat, then back at her Houndour. "E-ember again!" She called, crossing one arm over her stomach, the other one fingering a Pokeball. She could use such a fiery personality... but would it clash with her starter? Emma looked at the Rattata, biting the corner of her lip.

A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared! [atrb=border,0,true] As the young purple rat was assaulted with another ember, it seemed to be the end of her fight as she took a tumble backwards and slammed into the trunk of a tree with a small whimper, not yet fully unconscious but bordering far too much to aim another tackle or even a tail whip. Alternatively, she just let out a pathetic series of pained squeaks. This was, after all, a far different battle than what she usually held with the tiny Caterpie back at home. EMBER connected!

Emma fingered the Pokeball; biting the corner of her lip as she thought about how great of an asset this Pokemon could be to her team. Was it worth it though? Weren't there tons of these around? They were pretty common... Emma looked at her Houndour and released her lip, smiling slightly. It would be good to start her Pokemon portfolio soon, and every trainer had to start somewhere. Besides, didn't Jason have a Rattata? Enalrging the Pokeball, Emma tossed it at the wounded Rattata, returning her bottom lip inbetween her teeth.

"Yes!" Cried Emma when the Pokeball clicked. The Houndour yowled and hopped around, coming over to Emma to lick her hand. "G-good job Nyra!" Nyra? Was that going to be her name? Emma looked down at the Pokemon; she didn't seem to care that her owner gave her a new name. "Nyra i-it is, then!" Emma giggled, before calling her back in. She let her newest addition out. The Rattata sprung out, looked around, and then faced her new owner. Emma knelt down, bringing her backpack to the front.
Digging around, she pulled out two rare candies. "H-here you go," She cooed, offering them to the rat Pokemon. Simply, the rat snatched them - one at a time - and ate both Rare Candies. Smiling, Emma stood back up and tucked Nyra's Pokeball back on her belt clip. "R-ready to f-find m-more teamm-mates?"
