Viola was a storm—not even her parents and the family Pokémon, a freakin’ Arcanine, could stop the seventeen year old from stuffing a bunch of old clothes and food into her trusty backpack and run out of the house. She didn’t look back, knowing that they weren’t following, calling out behind her shoulder, “Bye mom, bye dad! Going on an adventure, I’ll write back~!” The parents, while still worried, already knew this was going to happen. It was only a matter of time that their daughter would run off to have her own little adventure. The poor Arcanine was devastated at the loss of an old friend, and sat there staring after her with the saddest expression on its face.
... anyway, back to out PROTAGONIST:
She had reached the lab in a matter of minutes, panting as she reached the front door. She had an almost-maniac grin on her face. This was it. Time to get her first Pokémon. She threw the doors open and stormed inside, looking around at some frightened-looking aides and yelled, “YO, PROFESSOR! WHERE ARE YOU?”

YO, PROFESSOR! WHERE ARE YOU?
"What!? Huh?! Where's the egg, the fire the-" Lief fell out of his chair with a thud and a groan. That one hurt. Struggling to his feet, he made sure nothing was broken - on himself or otherwise - and staggered out to the main portion of the lab, making yet another mental note not to fall asleep after lunch again. "What's tha big hurry?" He called to the young woman by the door, a small smile forming on his face. "You 'ere for a Pokemon or something?"

Viola had been walking around the main part of the lab examining things and looking for the Professor. The poor aides attempted to calm her down, but naturally she was a force that could not be stopped. It was out of courtesy (or rather, just not wanting to break anything and piss the Professor off) that she refrained from touching anything important.
Hearing the thud she looked up excitedly to see the Professor walking out from a room. She took a deep breath, almost as if ‘puffing’ herself up and stood tall—or at least, as tall as her slightly smaller than average stature would allow. She nodded at his question and said, “Yessir! I’m here to get on my very own adventure and get a Pokémon!” She looked too pumped up for this.

Lief nodded and rubbed the back of his head, wondering if taking a nap had been the best thing to do. He chuckled at the girl then motioned for her to sit down at the small sitting area. There was a long table and some water bottles and the like scattered about it. "There are some water bottles there; help yourself to them! Oh, and there's a sandwich or two, as well as some cookies. Feel free to pack those away while I go grab your starter." Lief said, before he turned around and headed for the back room to grab what the girl needed.

She followed the Professor to the sitting area, eyeing the cookies and water bottles and sandwiches with a thoughtful smile. Viola was hungry – she had packed some food into her backpack, sure, but she hadn’t actually had much to eat herself before leaving. “Oh, sweet! Thanks, Professor!” She said when Lief offered the water bottles and the like, and sat down on a chair in front of the long table and helped herself to a sandwich and a couple of cookies. “These are pretty good,” She said through a mouth full of cookies, “Storebought or homemade?”
When Lief had walked away she proceeded to stash some more cookies, another sandwich and two water bottles into her backpack. It was good to be prepared and take advantage of the situation. And the food was actually pretty good, too. She was done before the Professor actually arrived, though, and sat there eagerly waiting for her starter. Hell, she was so excited she was fidgeting a little -- the sugar from the cookies didn't help much at all, either.

"Homemade!" Lief had called out before walking into the back. He was happy that trainers were taking his food; he had too much of it, and seeing other people eat it made him feel good about it all. He hummed a song as he picked the pokeballs containing the Pokemon she would have to pick from. He had been given this machine when he moved here, but he had never actually gone in and tinkered with it.
Could he do that?
"Here we are!" Lief crowed, coming back from the back room and towards the long table. Placing the Pokeballs on the surface along with their pictures, he stepped back and allowed the Trainer to pick for herself.

Viola looked down at the Pokéballs with a HUGE grin on her face. She examined the pictures, thinking about it veeeery carefully. She wanted a good Pokémon. … except it didn’t take very long to choose. It was a very close tie between Cyndaquil and Absol, but in the end she went with the Absol. It didn’t have an evolution but it seemed like a strong Pokémon – those claws and that horn would tear anything to shreds.
“That one!” She said triumphantly, pointing at the Absol’s Pokéball.
