RYANLeaving the vicinity of Professor Lief's laboratory, Ryan had been walking for half an hour before pulling out the map he had been given in his starter pack. He remembered that the nearest village was about a days walk, making him wonder why the lab had been built so far out of the way, but something didn't feel quite right somehow. Was he going the wrong way? Sitting on a rock, Flare sighed and sat on the ground beside him. He could feel a forked tongue lapping at his neck and tried to shrug off his new Ekans. She was an unusual colour for an Ekans, a pale lavender instead of the usual rich purple hues, but if anything it made her stand out. He had named the snake pokemon 'Bindy', which apparently meant 'beautiful serpent', and he had to admit that she lived up to her name. The only problem was that she seemed to have taken slightly too much of a liking to him!
Feeling Bindy slide from his backpack and seeing her slither into a curled position next to Flare, he left the two to their own devices while he worked out whether or not they were taking the right route. Finally satisfied, at least for the time being, he turned his attention back to the pokemon as he stuffed the map back into the bag. They seemed to be getting along okay, but with Flare being a little shy, it seemed that Bindy knew when not to push her luck.
Stretching, Ryan rose from his perch and peered down as his two companions looked up with curious expressions.
"Thought we were lost for a sec there, but I think we're found again", he informed them with a triumphant grin. "Listen, this's gonna be a long walk, so would you ladies like to jump back into your balls for now?"
A couple of nods later and Flare and Bindy were safely back in their pokeballs. Putting them in his bag with the map, as well as various other odds and ends, he made his way forward with a little more confidence. He hoped that Lief had been exaggerating about how long his first leg of the journey would take though...

A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared! [atrb=border,0,true]It wasn't everyday you see a HootHoot just chilling in a tree, hidden in plain sight. She was asleep, obviously; you could tell by her soft snores and the fact that her huge eyes were closed. A very easy target, to be pretty clear. Although, maybe that wouldn't be the case if someone could wake the little one up! Clutched in her talons was a Leppa Berry! | FEMALE , LEVEL 5 , TACKLE , FORESIGHT |

RYANAfter walking a fair distance more, Ryan was beginning to feel rather tired, and so decided to stop for a little rest. He sighed as he slid down a tree and into a seated position, before calling out Flare and Bindy. They may as well have a little run out, he thought as they appeared from the red light that had sprung forth from each of the pokeballs.
Flare sat fairly close to Ryan, but at enough of a distance to check him out some more. It would take a while to build up complete trust, but the wait was always worth it. Bindy, meanwhile, Slithered straight up and into Ryan's bag, where she sat for a while quite contently. That was until she caught sight of something further up the tree, the something being a dark shape holding a delicious looking berry. Perhaps if she used her trainers bag for leverage, then maybe she could climb onto that hanging branch?
After a while, Ryan felt a lot more refreshed and got to his feet with a stretch. There really was no hurry, so maybe his pokemon could walk with him for a while? He could always call them back should they get to tired, so with a nod he called them both over and prepared to continue his trip. Only Flare answered though, as he realised that Bindy was nowhere in sight. Shortly after this realisation, there was a loud hooting noise and a falling ekans. Catching Bindy, Ryan looked up and straight into the eyes of an angry hoothoot. It was holding some kind of berry and he clicked on as to what his snakish friend had been attempting to do. Shooting a 'I know what you've been up to' look, he placed her on the ground and shrugged at the puzzled looking cyndaquil behind him. He then turned his attention back to Bindy.
"Okay, now you've done it! This is your mess so you can help me clean it up!"

A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared! [atrb=border,0,true] Sleeping rather peacefully, the HootHoot was having a certainly pleasant dream. She was in a tree all on her own, and of course, she was surrounded by the very berry she was defending. She loved Leppa Berries, they were her favorite! Shifting slightly, she was still asleep as the Ekans slithered up the tree. She was still asleep when it got onto her branch. But, when it's head nudged her foot, she was awake with a squawk, and sent the Ekans back to the ground. She followed shortly afterwards, squawking and chirping angrily at the human and it's Pokemon, clutching the berry in her talons. Who did this human think he was, sending his Pokemon after her?! She was ASLEEP! With that, she dropped her berry and sent after the snake with a tackle attack.

RYANPoised and ready for battle, Bindy nonetheless was sent a few meters back by the angry hoothoot's tackle! Ryan winced as the poison type landed at Flares feet, who nuzzle her tentatively back to her, um, body? Either way, she seemed to share her trainers sentiment that 'she caused the problem so she can deal with it!
"Are you okay Bindy?", the young trainer called out behind him. Now that they were in the midst of battle, there would be no backing down and if Bindy didn't come back into this soon then there would be no winning. Thankfully, the aforementioned pokemon seemed fine as she slithered back to her trainer, hissing angrily at the hoothoot. She'd only wanted a taste of the berries up there and to her the hoothoot's reaction was uncalled for! Of course, most would have reacted the same if they had been awoken abruptly by a snake nuzzling at the foot, but never mind.
With the hoothoot glaring menacingly down at them, now was the time to act. With Bindy back in position, Ryan pointed toward their feathered foe.
"Alright Bindy, use wrap attack!"
With that, the snake pokemon launched herself forward and attempted to coil herself around the feathered fiend! Hopefully this would teach her for overeacting!

A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared! [atrb=border,0,true]The Hoothoot raised its beak and let out a chirp of triumph. The tackle had hit, and she had sure showed that snake! She stood on her tree branch, her talons curled around the Leppa berry protectively. The Ekans was scary, to be sure – it was a poison type, after all – but she would not back down. She braced herself for an attack, but was still too slow to react when the snake launched itself at her, curling around her round body. She struggled, clawing and flapping her tiny wings. Unfortunately she wasn’t strong enough to break free just yet. WRAP SUCCESSFUL! HOOTHOOT IS WRAPPED! -5 DAMAGE! 15/20 | FEMALE , LEVEL 5 , TACKLE , FORESIGHT |

(OOC: Thanks. Btw, am I supposed to have an hp count as well?) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- RYANWith Bindy coiled tightly around the Hoothoot, Ryan pondered his next move. There was no use in leaving the bird pokemon alone now, giving it's performance earlier, the aggressiveness would remain and then they'd have to start the whole thing over again! He felt a little bad about it, but then sometimes that was the way of things.
Sighing, he looked on as Bindy continued to keep a tight hold of her opponent. Perhaps next time, this pokemon would think twice before launching into an all out assault in response to a simple accident! Then again, if the Ekans had left well enough alone in the first place, then there wouldn't be a problem.
"Okay Bindy, us Leer!", Ryan called out to his slithery friend. Lowering Hoothoots defense should hopefully see this wrapped up in a hurry.

(( Nah. Personally I’m just doing it because all the other mods are.)) A Wild Pokemon Has Appeared! [atrb=border,0,true]The Hoothoot froze in fear as the Ekans used leer, lowering her defense – the Hoothoot was too scared to really do much right now… after all, the look the Ekans was giving her was rather intimidating. … which strengthened her resolve to break free as quick as she possibly could! She struggled and struggled with all her strength, retaliating with a weakened tackle. It wasn’t really much of a ‘tackle’… more like a fierce headbutt to the Ekans’ head due to the fact she was still bound where she was. But hey, it was worth a shot. LEER HIT! HOOTHOOT’S DEFENSE LOWERED! HOOTHOOT IS WRAPPED! 15/20 | FEMALE , LEVEL 5 , TACKLE , FORESIGHT |

RYANRyan felt a little bad as he realised how frightened the hoothoot was. He sure wouldn't have liked to be in her position but at the same time what else were they supposed to do? The bird had started in his minds eye, but still...
With a sigh, he called Bindy off. The hoothoot should have learned it's lesson by now, but then it would probably make a good addition to his team. It was a good little battler and perhaps if he caught it then he could make up for what had gone on here some how. Trying his luck, he took a pokeball from his bag and threw it at the now freed bird.
Used a pokeball!
