Emma was waiting anxiously outside of the Pokemon Lab. She had been out here since nearly seven in the morning. It was nearing twelve. She hadn't eaten in fear of puking it back up, and now she was beginning to regret that decision; her stomach rumbled and tightened into uncomfortable knots. Now was the time to do it. Now was the time she should get her Pokemon! Or... well... she could wait another hour or ten...
'No! Emma you gotta do this! You have to do this for Jason,' Emma swallowed back her heart which was lodged in her throat; Jason was her older brother who had been viciously attacked by a Pokemon when they was living in Kanto. Jason had been on the final stretch of his Pokemon Journey when a wild herd of Tauros trampled him. Now in intensive care and probably for the rest of his life, Emma was doing this for her brother.
Knocking on the door, she pushed it open a tad and stuck her brown head in, swallowing back the fear and anxiety in her throat. "H-h-hello?" She managed to stutter out.

"Wee~ are never ever ever! Getting back together," sang Professor Lief, as he finished cleaning his never clean office. The bigger Professor wiped his forehead with a sigh, grinning at his attempt of 'cleaning'. Where the papers strewn across his desk were just that, they were now sloppily piled in a corner of his desk. Broken Pokeballs he had been fixing were fixed and now sitting in a box in the left corner of the room. "Yeah wee~ are never ever ever--" A voice.
Awh crap.
"Coming!" Called the Professor. He ran from the office and into the high ceiling, long corridor section of the lab; the main entrance. He saw a mouse-haired girl and smiled, the embarrassment of being caught singing leaving quickly. "'allo! Here for your Pokemon?" He asked her, hands tucked into his pants pockets.

Emma stood awkwardly in the long hallway, biting her lip and twisting part of her shirt around her hand. When the Professor came out of his office - or what she assumed was his office - she smiled awkwardly and shuffled back, unsure of what to do or say. "Uhm... yes? I mean, yes. I'm here for my P-pokemon.." She stumbled through that one, didn't she. She stood a little straighter, releasing her shirt end, although the right corner of her lip she couldn't stop gnawing on. "What can I g-get?" Emma really wanted something cute, like a Stantler or Pichu. She knew that she couldn't pick just because; the Professor had what he had, and she'd have to choose from that.

"What can ya get? Anything! Hold on just one second, missy. I'll be back before you can shake a Tentacool's tentacle!" With that odd statement Lief turned and ran tucked tail into the back room. He looked at everything and then pressed the button on the little machine that spat the Pokeballs out. Eight of them rolled out and he clumsily caught them, while the pictures of the Pokemon soon followed. "Comin' up!" Lief called out to her, as he walked out with the armful of Pokeballs and set them on the table. "Here ya go!"

Emma bit her lip hard when he ran off again, her stomach growling eagerly for food. Didn't he offer food to trainers? Looks like she'll have to go to a Pokecenter for some sampling. She stepped back when he returned with an armful of stuff, and was slightly irritated that none of that was food. But, the irritation escalated into excitement and anxiety, and with her bottom lip still between her teeth, she approached the table.
Fourteen year old Emma stared long and hard at the Pokemon he offered, arms crossed over her chest, her backpack packed with a small two person tent, food, clothing and collapsible cooking utilities, she was set to go. Half of the equipment she carried used to belong to her brother. But since he was in intensive care... Emma shook her head, scratched her neck, and looked at the Pokemon. She didn't want any of the weak looking types, so that pushed the silver-fish looking one out, same with the half bird half cloud deal going on.
What did that leave her with? Not much more. Tilting her head she ignored Squirtle and Geodude, counted the green leaf-head out, and was then left with an option of three; the chicken, the dog, and the ghost. The ghost Pokemon had a lot of potential, but Emma didn't want it floating away on her. The chicken could prove to be an asset, but there had to be a few more ... powerful fire types on the island. So that left the dog. In fear of biting a hole in her lip, she opened her mouth and pointed to the Houndour. "I want that o-one." was all she said after a long and thoughtful decision process.

Lief smiled, and handed her the starter kit and Pokemon ball. "There you go! Take care of it!" Lief also offered her a platter of biscuits, hoping that she could remove some of his temptations, because damn .... those biscuits were looking better and better each second he stared at them! name up to trainer, female pokemon level 5 , leer , ember x 5 x 1 x 1 Dex Map

Emma took was what offered, and with a sly smile also took a few biscuits and put them into her bag. Hopefully she could coax her new starter into eating some, too. "Thanks Professor!" She took the Pokeball and called out her new starter. Her Houndour watched her warily, before her stub of a tail began to wag. Emma smiled, patted the top of her head, and left, making sure her new friend was following.
