Ren strolled through the Altic Village with his childhood friend at his side. The girl he knew since birth pretty much was as usual carrying her jigglypuff on her head. It's odd how flighty Mel could be these days. Of course, then there was the fact Ren had recently become the target of Melody's affections. Bad enough that his new public nickname was "Honey-bumpkins".
"Aaaahh! Ren, this is amazing here! Can we go shopping? Pleeeeeaaase?" She begged him. Melody was a somewhat childish girl, and very odd. Melody was always cheerful and silly, retaining the attention span of a tater tot and the thought train of a ten-year-old at times. It's not too often she will do something intelligent or rational though.
"Mel, you know we need to find a place to rest."He was the more serious and mature one. His mind worked more rationally than Melody's and processed things more easily. He was a sensitive boy though. At the cute and innocent begging look Mel gave him though, he just kind of gave in at that point. He never could resist when Melody gave him her begging face. "Fine. Let's go shopping..." He sighed as Melody replied with a happy squeal.

She was late, and Tristan wasn't even surprised. His sister Esme spent her whole life being late, except for that one occasion where she'd popped into the world a scant twenty minutes before he did. He'd booked a room for the two of them at a traveler's hostel (if he'd left that to her, she'd book a five star hotel).
He was looking for a peace offering. Esme had been snappy at him on the phone, but he knew any anger would fizzle out if he found some suitably girlish and/or expensive token.
Tristan wandered the streets looking through local souvenirs. Maybe a music box? The one in his hands had a handcrafted ballerina spinning in time to an elegant tune. "Hey,"
he called out to a woman and a boy nearby. He smiled, and it didn't reach his eyes, but no one could tell with his sunglasses on. "Any chance you can help a guy out? Trying to pick out a gift for a lady here..." [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Ren turned when he heard a voice call to him and Mel. He was asking about a gift for a lady, which Ren knew nothing about, but Mel probably did seeing how she pretty much dragged Ren over by the hand. "Mel, you gotta slow down sometimes! Your not gonna get anywhere speeding around." He told his best friend.
Melody shot him a quick unsatisfied look as she stopped near the boy. "We can totally help!" She chimed cheerfully, taking a good stomp on Ren's foot when he groaned. She was significantly smaller at only five feet and one inch tall, where Ren was five feet and seven inches. Many would ask if Ren was her older brother or something. Truthfully Ren and Melody were the same age, sixteen.
Ren cringed as Melody crunched his foot. "Yyyeeeaaaa!!" He mustered as he hopped around on his good foot. Mel was surprisingly strong for her size. He was usually the one getting dominated by her. Kind of odd in most eyes, especially hearing how the two were the same age.

Tristan's face didn't betray any emotion, but when Mel stomped on Ren's foot, he concluded that this girl's opinion was probably very valuable. She and Esme were birds of feather, at least as far as grievous bodily harm upon well-meaning boys went.
"Glad to hear it,"
he replied, not minding their shenanigans. "So there's this girl... I think I pissed her off, but she's meeting up with me tonight--or tomorrow, depending on how annoyed she is with me. I'm thinking about getting her a little something so she won't bite my head off." Tristan presented the music box, and the man behind the souvenir stand looked slightly alarmed that he might drop it or something. It was a pricey trinket for an outdoor stand, but Tristan could afford to pay for it if he broke it anyway, so he didn't much care. "She likes pretty things. I wouldn't know pretty if it were staring me in the face though. What do you two think?"[/blockquote][/blockquote]

Melody looked at the music box and inspected it for a bit. "Well it is pretty, but does she like ballet or dancing? If she does then that would probably be a really great idea!" She cheered sweetly. "So are you dating her?" She asked the boy curiously.
Ren shrugged at the small music box, as he too wasn't really one to easily notice pretty things a girl would like. Besides, he could just about buy Mel anything and she would instantly love it. He could get a sincere thanks for buying her a pile of crap with google eyes on it.
Melody poked Ren in the side. "What do you think, Honey-bumpkins?" She said affectionately to her friend. She was oblivious to the fact that Ren had no intent on becoming her lover. Although she kept pulling it off despite his rejections wherever they went. Melody loved calling him Honey-bumpkins especially.

He toyed with the idea of being honest, because that was the proper thing to do, obviously--but the other option was hilariously tempting. "Yes--no. Maybe. Not currently,"
he replied, theatrically fumbling his words until he ended with a heavy sigh. (The merchant's expression panged with sympathy, and Tristan started worrying that word would spread, and Esme would kill him dead for this. Oops?) "She likes that sort of thing, yeah. We went to a ballet once--twice, actually," he said, entirely honest. Esme had liked it, gushed about costumes and whatnot. Tristan had walked out during intermission. Tristan glanced from Mel to Ren, not quite sure of their relationship. "Well aren't you two the sweetest thing?" he drawled, an underlying sarcasm masked with wistful thinking. "Mel. I am not your Honey-bumpkins! We are just friends and that's all." He told her dissatisfied at her foolishness. His face turned a deep red as he caught her eyes staring at him cutely. A quick grumble on his part and he turned away awkwardly.
Mel giggled sweetly. "Ren. I know you like me. You're just too scared to admit it!" He gave a quick little hug before turning back to the other boy. "Well I would suggest you get it for her. If she likes that stuff she should like that!" She tuned sweetly before turning back to Ren and jumping onto his back. "We are gonna stand by that field if you wanna join us!" She offered to the boy.
Ren groaned and headed off a bit away and stopped when he was right next to the bustling field of lush grass and happy people and their pokemon. Speaking if which, he didn't see Mikki around. Soon enough though the little jigglypuff waddled back and floated up onto Mel's head. He looked back to the boy to see what he would do.

"I think I will--the box and joining you, I mean,"
Tristan replied. He handed the shopkeep a wad of cash in exchange for the music box, now wrapped in finely padded tissue paper and placed in a dainty bag. He was only at the edge of the field when Esme pulled up in a limousine. Tristan rolled his eyes--of course she's arrive to a small village in the single most ostentatious vehicle possible. He was halfway surprised she hadn't chartered a flock of rapidashes for an escort. At the field, Tristan waved to catch the cute couple(??)'s attention. "So, you guys trainers or what?" he asked, because he had half a mind to throw Esme at either one or both of them if they were. From behind dark windows, Esme scowled as Tristan glanced at the limo and continued walking off toward the field. "Pull up to the field," she ordered the chauffeur. "And then I suggest you leave with all due haste else you may be complicit in the gruesome murder of my brother once I catch up to him." She was exaggerating, of course. ...Maybe. "Trainers? Nah! We're breeders! Mikki here is just my good buddy though!" Mel explained, pointing to the jigglypuff perched atop her head. To which he replied with a delightful "puuhhh..." and a sweet smile. "We do like to get everybody some exercise though!" Mel chimed as she hopped off Ren's back. Tossing her five pokeballs into the air to let her team out. Soon aside of Mikki, there was a young skitty trying to play with an espeon. A blastoise sat down with a scizor, good friends. Lastly was her pidgeot, who was more interested in napping.
Ren shrugged when Mel let her team out and gave his five pokeballs a toss. Soon there was an umbreon who was set just napping next to an arcanine, the charizard stood next to a dodrio as a starmie took place on the dragon's head. The bond between the water and fire-type was quite interesting. "Here's my team." Ren stated simply, without bothering with much else.
Mel looked at the boy, then the girl. "Are you two trainers?" She returned the question as Miyu decided to scramble up her legs. "Miyu! Go play with Komi!" She scolded the young Skitty as she scampered off to bug the espeon, Komi, some more. Komi was patient luckily, or things would have happened that wouldn't be too fun. The dodrio paced over to visit the sleepy pidgeot quickly.

She exited the limo in a huff, slamming the sleek black door closed with a hefty wham. Heeding her advice, the chauffeur drove off in a hurry.
Esme looked from the two breeders to her brother, leveling an angry glare at the latter. Like he had any right to just summon her to town! When she was on the verge of explosion, Tristan raised an eyebrow and glanced pointedly at Mel and Ren.
Esme took a breath and deflated slightly. It just wouldn't do to lose her temper in front of the common plebeians. "Hello, Tristan,"
she said, every word dripping ice. "Hello, Esme. As I was just about to say, no, I'm not a trainer. Just a breeder myself, like the two of you. Can't say I'm too interested in seeing pokemon fight," Tristan said. Blood sports couldn't really hold his attention. He found that it was always the stronger, better trained pokemon that won. That made things dull and rather barbaric. Of course, Esme rather liked barbaric things, like how the Roman upper crust enjoyed watching gladiators fight to the death for their entertainment. "He has no stomach for blood," Esme said disdainfully. "And by the way, you're a disgrace, have I mentioned that to you yet today--" Tristan coughed. "I should introduce you all, shouldn't I? I apologize, my manners slipped a little. This is Ren, and that's Mel. They're charming, really. Mel, Ren, this is Esme. My life revolves around her, unfortunately." (8/8 totodile egg; 5/8 horsea egg; 5/10 eevee egg) [/blockquote][/blockquote]

"Hey." Ren said softly with a quick wave. He mostly was just content standing there for a while and just relaxing. Today was surprisingly a rather nice day for the season it was. "Ouch!" A quick punch to the arm brought him out of his thought. "You're lucky you're a girl, Mel!" He grumbled while rubbing his arm. "What was that for anyways?!" He asked his friend who just stuck her tongue out at him.
She needed to do something since Ren was starting to zone out, so she pounded his arm! "Hiya!! Nice to meet you Esme!" She said cheerfully. "Why is she such a bother? Ooohh!! Is she like a werewolf or something? Maybe you are afraid she will eat you or go on a rampage when the full moon come?!" She said, trying to make a roaring sound. It sucked though.
"Where in the world do these conclusions come from Mel?" Ren asked. "I swear you have the IQ of a tater tot someti- ouchie!!" He got cut off on the last part when she stomped his foot once again. As she scowled at him he was jumping around on his good foot while grasping the other in pain. "Owie Owie youchie ahh!" He grumbled to himself as he hopped around.

"...Charmed,"
Esme replied grudgingly, not sounding very charmed at all. Tristan's mouth tugged into a wry smile as he watched Mel and Ren, amused by their shenanigans. Esme was less amused, and she scowled at her brother. "Thank you, boy, you are quite the clever one, aren't you? You're correct, I am not a werewolf. And I wouldn't eat Tristan either way. Too skinny--he would make a poor dish," she replied indignantly. "She does go on a murderous rampage once a month though. That's werewolf enough for me, but really, she's a vampire. She drinks blood, I swear it," Tristan said. Under his breath, he added, "You're too skinny. The hell was the last time you ate?" Esme shrugged. "I need to watch my figure, Tristan." Showing a bit of worry at Mel's treatment of Ren, she said, "I'd avoid stomping his feet out, else he won't be able to follow you around anymore--unless that's what you want. I should try that with Tristan here." (6/8 horsea egg; 6/10 eevee egg) [/blockquote][/blockquote]

"Oh he'll be fine!" She said giving Ren a shove when he hopped around too close to her and giggled innocently when he took a tumble. "Oh get up, Sweet Stuff!" He said dragging Ren to his feet and dusting him off like a mother. "You are so silly!" Turning to Esme and Tristan she smiled. "So what pokemon do you guys have?" She asked excitedly.
"Mel. We have gone over this many times. I am not your Sweet Stuff or whatever else you say. We are just friends, sixteen years of our lives are gonna stay the same for the rest." He grumbled. He knew Mel really was growing strong affections for him, but he felt that if they went into a relationship then they might break up and never talk much more again.
Mel looked slightly disappointed at the remark, but quickly bounced back. "Aw fine!" She grumped. Looking back at the two others to find out if they would mention their pokemon. Mikki blinked in hoping there would be more. His friends were all out, so why couldn't more join the fiesta? It was a large field anyways, not like a tiny house or anything stupid like that.

Esme released her one starter pokemon onto the grassy field. She was ready for the growlithe and grabbed onto the scruff of his neck as soon as he appeared. That was for the best, since he immediately snapped at pokemon nearby, jaws clenching onto thin air as Esme pulled him back.
"This is Nero,"
Esme introduced, gesturing first to the growlithe and then to the totodile. She patted Nero fondly on the head, and although the growlithe still looked towards the other pokemon with a certain amount of bloodthirst, he wagged his tail and sat idly by Esme's side. "Don't mind Nero, he's always spoiling for a fight. It think it's very becoming of him." Tristan took one glance at the violent growlithe and while his expression remained diplomatically blank, his eyebrows furrowed in disapproval. "That's your first pokemon? You sure he's not rabid?" "Me and Nero will be the best of friends, you have nothing to worry about," Esme said, and the growlithe barked his agreement. "Yeah, I'm seeing that now--you two got a lot in common." Tristan shrugged, although he was going to be keeping an eye on that growlithe until the end of time. He and Esme had their differences, but he was going to let a dog cannibalize his sister. Reaching for his pokeballs, Tristan released only five pokemon out of six. A dragonair slithered across the ground, curious to meet the other pokemon, whereas a ninetails glanced their way and wasn't impressed. A pikachu climbed onto Tristan's head, and an absol hovered at his feet protectively. A scizor immediately took to the sky, screw socializing with others. "They're a motley crew," Tristan said, as if that counted as an introduction. ooc technically, i guess esme has the totodile now, but since that one only hatched halfway through this thread, she shouldn't have it yet lol (8/8 horsea egg; 8/10 eevee egg) [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Denny and Dodi were quite ready to greet the dragonair. The charizard gave a kindle wave as the silly dodrio's three heads squabbled over who greeted first. Blitz could have moved off on his own, but the starmie was more than happy to meet a friend. Pyres looked up hearing a familiar bark, like she used to hear as a pup with her littermates. She lifted her head to look at the growlithe, getting up to go greet the chap, she towered over the pup seeing how big she was. It's not like Ren could ride Dodi out of all pokemon.
Mel watched the others out of their pokeballs, quite the batch. "Wow! You have a scizor too?! That's so cool!" She told Tristan. Although Zash was never a social butterfree either, so two antisocial scizors probably wouldn't be worth the effort of introduction. "Oh! Be careful Pyres!" She called to Ren's arcanine, who swished her tail in the idea she understood the girl she knew. Mel always did like Pyres quite a bit.
